Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 2

Situation

When adding packages to a custom repository exported by Subscription Management Tool (SMT), the added packages cannot be found by the clients.

Resolution

Install the package createrepo from the SLE11 Software Development Kit to update the repository metadata using
createrepo -v /srv/www/htdocs/repo/\$RCE/custom_reponame
and then refresh the repo information on the client using
zypper refresh

Cause

While creating or updating a custom SMT repository the metadata for the files provided in the subdirectory
repodata/filelists.xml.gz
repodata/other.xml.gz
repodata/primary.xml.gz
repodata/repomd.xml
need to be current as well.
