Situation

If a workstation is joined to a Domain and the Domain Controller has a mixed case hostname (example: DomainController1.novell.lan) the operation fails with NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE error in the samba

protocol.

Resolution

Workaround is to use all lower cases in the /etc/hostsname.

Example:

Change DomainController1.novell.lan to domaincontroller1.novell.lan
