CIFS mount does not return the proper file system rights

This document (7010756) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11

Situation

A CIFS mount of a file system hosted on another SLES server does not return the proper file system rights when doing an ll command.

Resolution

On the target server (that owns the file system to be mounted) you can edit the smb.conf file and add the line:
Unix Extensions = No
Restart Samba on that server to make it read this new option
Then remount the file system on the other server.

OR

On the client side where the CIF mount command is being run add the "nounix" option the the mount command.
