Dynamic Workstation Group filter does not work if set to the same context as the devices

Environment

Novell ZENworks Configuration Management 11.2 ZENworks Control Center - ZCC

Situation

In a device hierarchy such as
- Devices
-- FolderA
--- FolderB
---- FolderC

If a Dynamic Workstation Group is created with a filter that is set to query only FolderC, no workstations in FolderC will be included in the member list

Resolution

This is fixed in version 11.2.2 - see KB 7010757 "ZENworks Configuration Management 11.2.2 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://support.microfocus.com/kb/doc.php?id=7010757

Workaround:
Set the context to one level higher (in the above example FolderB) and in the criteria, add a filter (to be combined using "and" with any other filters) for "Device - Full Name Including Folder" "Contains" name of desired folder (in this case FolderC).

E.g., if the desired dynamic group was for all Windows 7 SP1 64-bit machines in FolderC, define the filter like this:
  1. select the context as FolderB
  2. add a filter for "Device - Full Name Including Folder" "Contains" "FolderC"
  3. add a filter for "Device - Registered Operating System" "Equal to" "windows7-pro-sp1-x64"
