Environment

Novell Open Enterprise Server 11 (OES 11) Linux
Novell Open Enterprise Server 11 (OES 11) Linux Support Pack 1
Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux Support Pack 3
iPrint client for Macintosh v5.70
Macintosh OS 10.8 (Mountain Lion)

Situation

Installing the 5.70 iPrint Client for Mac results in the following message:
"iPrint.pkg" can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.
Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers.
The only option is to click OK.  The installation does not proceed.

Resolution

Download and install the iPrint Client for Mac version 5.72.  This updated version of the iPrint Client for Mac is available through the OES2 SP3 and OES11 channels.  It is also available from the novell.com/download site.

Workaround: Allow the unsigned iPrint Client for Mac 5.70 to be installed:
  • Go to: Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> General tab
    • Allow applications downloaded from:
      • Change this option to
        • Anywhere
      • When prompted, click the Allow From Anywhere button.

Cause

The default Gatekeeper application setting for Mac 10.8 is set to allow only "Mac App Store and identified developers" packages to be installed. The 5.70 iPrint client for Macinstoh is not signed and there cannot be installed on Mountain Lion.
