Novell ZENworks Configuration Management 11.2 Imaging
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10

When an image file is created using a bootcd and img, the file stored on the image server is owned by root. Because the image file is owned by root, using Image Explorer will not allow a non-root user to save changes to the image file.

This is fixed in version 11.2.2 - see KB 7010757 "ZENworks Configuration Management 11.2.2 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at

  • Open the image file using image explorer and do a "save as" and create an additional image file.
  • log into the ZCM server as root and use the chmod command to change the group rights to read write.
