Credentials in miCASA are missing

Environment

Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux Support Pack 3

Situation

After rebooting, services such as novell-cifs are not starting.  Upon further investigation, the following is found:

  1. Service errors in the logs
    CIFS[22600]: ERROR: ENTRY: CASA Error has occured, error:No credential is retrived from CASA
    CIFS[22600]: CRITICAL: ENTRY: Retrieval of proxy user credentials failed from CASA

  2. CASAcli -l returns:
    Found 0 credential sets

Resolution

Restart micasad (rcmicasad stop && rcmicasad start) and then restart the service(s) in question.

Cause

micasad was unable to access the files where it stores the encrypted credentials.

Additional Information

Another option is to modify /etc/sysconfig/boot file to change RUN_PARALLEL="yes" to RUN_PARALLEL="no".
