How do I clear out saved or cached information from the DNS/DHCP Management Console?

Environment

Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux Support Pack 3
Novell Open Enterprise Server 11 (OES 11) Linux

Situation

A customer asked how to clear out the cached settings from the DNS/DHCP Management Console.  This information includes tree/server connection information; for example if a connection was made to a test environment that is no longer available the record will still be in the DNS/DHCP Management Console until manually deleted.  It may also be desirable to have the console forget past users of the tool, which are also cached (though passwords are not cached).

Resolution

Clearing all of the cached entries, or individual entries, can be done by modifying a file at the following location (adjust drive letter and username per system):

<drive>:/Users/{username}/Novell/DNSDHCP

The 'Novell' and 'DNSDHCP directories are both marked as system directories so they are not immediately visible on a default windows system, but can still be accessed directly if the path is known or from the command line.

Within this directory is a file with a name similar to CacheFile-<userid> which is a text file containing the cached information.  Deleting or modifying this file with a valid text editor will clear or adjust the console's cached information.
