Environment

Novell GroupWise 2012
Novell GroupWise 8
Novell Open Enterprise Server 11 (OES 11) Linux

Situation

With OES11, cross procotol locks is enabled by default however ConsoleOne still issues the warning "To avoid problems with
database integrity, please add the setting "CROSS_PROTOCOL_LOCKS 1" while connecting to Domain on NSS/NCP Volume".

Resolution

To prevent the warning from appearing, edit the /etc/opt/novell/ncpserv.conf file and add the command

CROSS_PROTOCOL_LOCKS 1

to the bottom.  Then either restart ndsd service and the mta service or bounce the server.

Cause

ConsoleOne reads the ncpserv.conf file to determine if the cross protocol locks is enabled.  The default setting for OES 11 is to have that option enabled, but the notation is not written to the ncpserv.conf file.
