Environment

PlateSpin Forge 4.x, 11.x
PlateSpin Migrate 11.x, 12.x
PlateSpin Protect 11.x

Situation

During a migration, Failover, or Test Failover the Windows 2008 R2 target VM fails to boot properly.  Errors seen include a 0x0000007B stop code (blue screen) and the following:

Status: 0xC0000225

Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible

Investigation will show that the ..\WINDOWS\PlateSpin\Configuration\Data\Log.txt file exists on the target and the last major steps completed prior to the failing reboot are the driver installation and tools installation.

Resolution

1. On the PlateSpin server open http(s)://localhost/platespinconfiguration in a web browser.

2. Locate the setting SkipDriverInstallation and modify the value to be SkipAllDrivers if using PlateSpin Forge or PlateSpin Protect.  Modify it to "SkipStorageDriversOnly" if using PlateSpin Migrate

4. If using PlateSpin Forge or PlateSpin Protect, run a replication for the Windows 2008 R2 workload and attempt the Failover or Test Failover again.  If using PlateSpin Migrate, retry the migration.

Additional Information

If this issue persists, collect the following data:

..\WINDOWS\PlateSpin folder from the target
..\WINDOWS\system32\config folder from the target
..\WINDOWS\system32\winevt\Logs folder from the target
..\WINDOWS\setup*.log files from the target
