Environment

Novell GroupWise 2012

Situation

  • User creates appointment for other users in a Time Zone that is one hour ahead.
  • From the appointment, user selects Actions, Select Time Zone... and chooses a Time Zone that is one hour ahead.
  • User sends/posts the appointment and notices that the appointment in their calender is set to the same time as the appointment should be if user were in the other Time Zone.  Such as if the appointment was set to for 10am Central time, but it's 9am in the sender's zone, the appointment will actually show up at 10 am in the senders zone.
  • The Time Zone setting in Outlook does not behave this way.

Resolution

This is working as designed.

The documentation says: "Use the Time Zone feature if you don’t want GroupWise to adjust to the recipients’ local time zone. For example, if you are in the Saskatchewan time zone and include users from the Mountain Time (US & Canada) time zone in your appointment, you would use the Time Zone feature if these users are flying to Saskatchewan for the appointment. Time Zone ensures that the appointment in their Calendars and Mailboxes shows the correct Saskatchewan time."
