Environment

Novell iPrint for Linux
iPrint Auto Driver Update feature enabled on iPrint printers.

Situation

The Auto Driver Update feature inappropriately triggers the auto re-install of the iPrint printers installed to workstations after an iPrint cluster resource is loaded to another node.

The message seen by the end user is:

The Administrator has modified the driver/profile for printer \\server\PAname . Please wait while this printer is updated.

Resolution

Install the latest novell-iprint-server code available from the channel.

Workaround:
Uncheck the Auto Driver Update feature for your printer agents.  NOTE: By default, this option is not checked.

iManager -> iPrint -> Manage Print Manager -> Printer Agents -> Uncheck the top box in the "Auto driver /Profile update" column -> Apply

Additional Information

The "Please wait while this printer is updated" prompt is an intended feature, but should only be triggered when the printer driver associated to the iPrint printer is updated or changed.  In the scenario described in this document, the prompt should not occur.
