Situation
Error when taking an image from a device.
ERROR:
Unknown error code: 480
Resolution
Use dmesg >outfile to read the dmesg errors. For example
[ 1047.716549] end_request: I/O error, dev sda, sector 81954920
[ 1047.716554] tntfs error (device sda1, pid 512): ntfs_bio_end_io_read(): Bio
read I/O error.

Shows bad sector.
In this case, try running chkdsk /b /r /f to fix the drive prior to imaging.
Note: "chkdsk /b /r /f " may not be able to run immediately and may ask whether to
continue on next reboot. If so, select Yes and reboot the system to let it finish.
