Situation

Novell Messenger(GroupWise Messenger) has stopped archiving chat conversations.

Resolution

Resolution:
  1. Browse to "User" via ConsoleOne and change eDirectory password by going to User | Properties | Restrictions tab.
  2. Right click User | Properties | GroupWise Utilities | Synchronize
  3. Browse to messaging agent startup file and edit that file. Search for --user and --password switch and enter newly created password for "user".Save the file.
    Example: --user=cn=admin,o=novell
           --password=newpassword
  4. Browse to archiving agent startup file and edit that file. Search for --user and --password switch and enter newly created password for "user".Save the file.
    Example: --user=cn=admin,o=novell
           --password=newpassword
  5. Stop and start messaging agent and archiving agent service simultaneously.

Note: 
  • Default location for start-up file for messaging agent on Linux: /etc/opt/novell/messenger/strtup.ma
  • Default location for start-up file for archiving agent on Linux: /etc/opt/novell/messenger/strtup.aa
