Unable to use Thunderbird to send email with IMAP SSL via the GWIA

Environment

Novell GroupWise 8 Support Pack 2 Hot Patch 3

Situation

  • Thunderbird times out when attempting to send email via the GWIA, using IMAP and SSL for SMTP.
  • Thunderbird sends fine when set to use STARTTLS.
  • Thunderbird send fine not using any connection security to send.
  • GWIA is able to successfully establish a secure connection when sending normal email via SMTP.

Resolution

Workaround is to use STARTTLS on Thunderbird or a nonsecure connection setting.  As far as we can tell, other devices such as Apple or setting up the GroupWise Client seem to work fine and the GWIA is able to establish a secure connection.

A Fix has been checked in and should be available when 8.0.3 ships.
