Windows XP bootup hang with iPrint Client 5.74

Environment

Novell iPrint Client for Windows 5.74

Situation

Some Windows XP workstations hang intermittently on bootup when the iPrint Client 5.74 is installed to the workstation.  The Windows logon prompt does not appear.  The screen shows the Microsoft blue background with no task bar or anything else. 

Resolution

Install the iPrint Client version 5.78 or later.  As of the writing of this article (08FEB2012), the 5.78 iPrint Client is an FTF (Field Test File). 
 
 
As positive feedback continues to be returned regarding this client, it will be transitioned to a Public release.

Additional Information

Novell believes this problem is introduced in the new clientless iCM feature.  This feature allows iCM (iPrint Client Management) to work without the Novell Client for Windows being installed.  The clientless feature allows credential sharing between winlogon.exe and the iPrint client.
