GropWise Error [d040]: "A rule exists that references the folder you tried to delete. You must change or delete the rule before you can delete the folder"

Environment

Novell GroupWise 8 Support Pack 2 Hot Patch 2

Situation

If a folder which has rule set to it is tried to delete without deleting the rule, it gives an error message in GroupWise Client Mailbox "GroupWise Error [d040] A rule exists that references the folder you tried to delete. You must change or delete the rule before you can delete the folder" and user is not able to delete the folder.
Disabling the rule by going into Tools | Rules | Disable also doesn't work.
 

Resolution

Workaround:
  1. Login as user to GroupWise Mailbox
  2. Go to Tools | Rules | Delete the rule set for respective folder | Close the Rule Window
  3. Delete folder for which rule was set

Additional Information

Disabling rule doesn't work and rule needs to be deleted by going to Tools | Rules. This has been also tested with GroupWise Client 2012(Ascot).
 
This is working as design.
