Environment

Novell eDirectory 8.8 for Linux
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 3

Situation

eDirectory status will display the following error while running the commands "rcndsd status " or "ndsstat " :
"DisplayProductVersion failed: -625"
 
 

Resolution

Resolution
  1. This happens if some of the eDirectory libraries are missing. Updating the eDirectory to the latest version will fix the issue.
  2. An update ( it is not consistent with other products ,meaning some old application that is not tested with a newer OS ) may overwrite or alter symbolic links and then the libraries can not be found. One can go through all the files, libraries, links to make sure they are in place.
  3. eDirectory Library files will be located in the following location:
    • 32 bit server : /opt/novell/eDirectory/lib .
    • 64 bit server : /opt/novell/eDirectory/lib64 .
