Environment

Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux
Novell Open Enterprise Server 11 (OES 11) Linux
Novell DHCP Management Console

Situation

There is no way to remove dynamic leases in the java DHCP Management Console or in iManager for OES2 and OES11.  A dynamic lease can be viewed, but not deleted.

Resolution

Until this functionality is added to the DHCP management console for OES2SP3, you will need to modify the  /var/lib/dhcp/db/dhcp.leases file and locate the dynamic lease that you would like to remove and remove it manually.

With the dhcp.leases file open, note where the dynamic leases are that you want to remove so that you can quickly find them when you re-open the file. This is to reduce the amount of time that the dhcpd daemon is down while doing this.  Close the file. Stop the dhcp service by typing 'rcnovell-dhcpd' stop at the server console.
Re-open the dhcp.leases file and remove the dynamic entries that you wish to remove and save and close the file. Restart the dhcp daemon by typing 'rcnovell-dhcpd' start.

Editorial note:
This has been resolved with the release of the November 2012 Scheduled Maintenance update for OES.
