After failed update or install, ZES service is not available

Situation

ZES service is not available after failed system update or failed uninstall with rollback.

Resolution

This is fixed in version 11.2 - see KB 7010044 "ZENworks Configuration Management 11.2 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support
 
Workaround:
 
Rebuild the zes service with the following steps.
  1. Open administrative command prompt and CD to the following folder:
    c:\windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\
  2. Run:
    InstallUtil.exe /LogFile= /LogToConsole=true "%ZENWORKS_HOME%\esm\ZESService.exe"
