Cifs shares become unavailable after restarting ndsd

Environment

Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux Support Pack 3
Novell Open Enterprise Server 11 (OES 11) Linux

Situation

Cifs shares are not available after restarting ndsd service for any reason.

Resolution

Workaround:
You need to restart cifs service "rcnovell-cifs restart" if ndsd is restarted.

Future:
Changes have been made to both CIFS and NCP service in OES11SP2 to address this.

Cause

When ndsd is restarted, cifsd does not auto reconnect to the Unix Domain Socket /tmp/.ncpserv and inform ndsd about the availability of /tmp/.ncp2cifs again, nor will ndsd check for the availability of /tmp/.ncp2cifs and connect to this Unix Domain Socket again during startup. Hence, after ndsd has restarted, cifsd will not get informed about 'mount volume' and 'dismount volume' events anymore.
