Environment

Novell Access Manager 3.1 Access Administration
Novell Access Manager 3.1 Support Pack 3 applied

Situation

Access Manager 3.1 SP2 IR3 installed and working well. After upgrading from SP2 IR3 to SP3, the upgrade process appeared to go fine and all Access Manager components continued to work fine. However, when the Administrator entered the Admin Console and browsed to the IDP config -> Local -> Defaults, and select the default user store, they got a

"passwordMush NoClassDefFound exception" displayed on the browser page

The Admin Console log files (app_sc and catalina.out file) do NOT show the exception although the catalina.out file does show the PasswordMush reference. All other IDP operations seem to work fine.

Resolution

Fixed with Access Manager 3.1 SP4. There were two files that were flagged with root:root ownership in iManager (devicemanager, jar and nidp.jar) after the upgrade that caused the issue. Manually changing ownership to novlwww:novlwww addressed the the passwordmush exception too.

SP4 modified the install script to make sure that all file ownership rights were set appropriately.
