Client Login Parameters
In GroupWise 8.02 HP2 and earlier, GWIA does not honor the User_ID:d and User_ID:p login parameters for deleting or purging messages (as described in section 46.2.4 of the GroupWise 8 documentation, "Setting Up an E-Mail Client for POP3/IMAP4 Services" at https://www.novell.com/documentation/gw8/gw8_admin/?page=/documentation/gw8/gw8_admin/data/a2zvblk.html) UNLESS the POP3 client is also configured to delete messages from the server (unless GWIA also receives "delete" commands for the downloaded messages from the POP3 client)
=============================
POP3 Client "DELE" (delete) Commands
In GroupWise 8.02 HP2, if POP3 clients are configured to delete messages from the server, GWIA does not honor "delete" commands sent by POP3 clients UNLESS "Delete messages from GroupWise mailbox after download" or "Purge messages from GroupWise mailbox after download" options are selected under the GWIA > Access Control > POP3 settings. If those options are not enabled under the GWIA configuration, messages will stay in the Mailbox until deleted by standard GroupWise maintenance or until the user manually deleted those messages using a GroupWise client.
HP3 - GWIA now DOES correctly honor delete commands sent by POP3 clients and will move deleted messages to the Trash, even if no "Delete after download" or "Purge after download" options are selected under the GWIA > Access Control > POP3 settings.

Delete and/or Purge Options in GWIA configuration
In GroupWise 8.02 HP2, if Delete or Purge options are enabled under the GWIA > Access Control > POP3 settings, GWIA does not immediately delete or purge messages after download as described in the ConsoleOne help, but instead waits to delete or purge until the POP3 client sends the "delete" command.
In GroupWise 8.02 HP3, if Delete or Purge options are configured under the GWIA > Access Control > POP3 settings, those settings work as described in the documentation and GWIA will delete or purge messages immediately after download by the POP3 client (we do not wait until we receive the delete command from POP3 client).
