Environment

Applies to:  PlateSpin Protect 10.x and Forge 3.x

Situation

During failback to a physical target (using blockbase transfer method) containing the same size of hard disk as the live workload will fail with error 'Not enough space to create snapshot'

Resolution

This error occurs because the target physical server disk space is not large enough to accommodate the size of the source VM disk. When performing a failback to a physical target using Blockbase transfer method, the size of the hard drive must be larger than the original source. It cannot be same size. This is due to extra overhead that the Block Base driver requires by design .

Alternatively, a failback using Filebase transfer method can be used as this method will allow to resize the drive on the physical target .
