Using GroupWise 6.5 and GroupWise 7 Client with GroupWise 8 Post Office Agents

Situation

Unable to use GroupWise 6.5 or GroupWise 8 Client with GroupWise 8 POA
ERROR: "File C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCAL~1\Temp\US02MLS1.VEW is not a view description file"

Resolution

GroupWise 6.5 Client has not been tested with GroupWise 8 Client. However to make all the clients work with GroupWise 8 POA. follow the steps listed below
 
  1. Make a copy of GroupWise 7 ofviews on a local machine say c:\ofviews . GroupWise 7 ofviews can be found in GroupWise Software Distribution Directory\client\ofviews.
  2. Copy GroupWise 8 ofviews over c:\ofviews . GroupWise 8 ofviews can be found in GroupWise 8 Software Distribution Directory\client\ofviews.
  3. Copy c:\ofviews to the GroupWise 8 Post Office Directory\ofviews.

Most of the functionality should work but some functionality may not work with the older clients. Please upgrade the client to GroupWise 8 to fix all the issues.
