Environment

ZENworks Configuration Management 11.1

Situation

No bundles or policies get to the workstations after being assigned, no matter if the bundles and policies are device or user assigned.  Also, the policy, inventory, and proxy links in the ZENworks agent properties page are missing.  This error is found in the zmd-messages.log file on the workstation:

Type: System.InvalidOperationException
Message: Unable to generate a temporary class (result=1).
error CS0016: Could not write to output file 'c:\Windows\Temp\lz8o9ck7.dll' -- 'Access is denied. '

The name of the .dll file is different on every workstation.

Resolution

  1. Right click on the C:\Windows\Temp directory and choose to view the "Properties"
  2. Go to the "Security" tab
  3. De-select, then re-select the box for Full Control for the "SYSTEM" user, then click "Apply"
  4. Right click on the ZENworks icon in the system tray, and choose the option to "Refresh"
Following these steps should reset these permissions and then bundles and policies should be delivered to the workstation.
