Novell ZENworks 11 Configuration Management Support Pack 1 - ZCM 11 SP1
Situation
Some important issues have been identified after the initial release of ZCM 11.1 which are being experienced by a substantial number of sites.
Resolution
Only Zones that have been installed or upgraded using the original ZCM 11.1 ISO need this fix
"Agent update 1 for ZENworks 11.1" is a System Update that can be applied to affected agents to automatically apply the fixes for the issues shown below.

ZENworks11SP1a.iso (available at https://download.novell.com) can be used to update an existing ZCM 11.1 zone to include the fixes in "Agent update 1 for ZENworks 11.1" so that new agents already have the fixes included.

Note: only agents from a zone upgraded or installed with the original ZENworks 11 SP1 Configuration Management ISO are affected (see the Additional Information section for version details). Agents from a zone upgraded or installed with the file ZENworks11SP1a.iso (available at https://download.novell.com) are not affected; applying this update to devices that were from a zone upgraded or installed with the ZENworks11SP1a.iso is not necessary, but will not cause any issues.
Deploying this update to devices that have agents earlier than 11.1 will result in an automatic upgrade of the device to ZCM 11.1 first: this may result in two updates and two reboots for Windows devices (one to apply ZCM 11.1, and a second to apply the agent update) if the zone does not have the ZCM 11.1a deployment packages (see below).
Deploying this update to a Primary server will automatically update the agent, and rebuild the deployment packages
A Linux device correctly updated with Update 1 has an Agent version of 11.1.0.11233 (Agent components are unchanged at version 11.1.0)
When all devices have been upgraded, if the zone has been updated with "Update for ZENworks (11.1a)" (see below) this System Update can safely be deleted.
Deploying this update to a Primary server will automatically update the agent, and rebuild the deployment packages
- The preferred method to obtain this update is to use online System Updates: see section III in the online document "ZENworks 11 SP1 System Administration Reference", entitled "ZENworks System Updates".
- If online System Updates cannot be used, and there is a need to import the update manually, the update can be obtained at https://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=jzGb2UMXSvw~ as "ZCM 11.1 Agent update 1 manual import file"

Note: this process does not upgrade any device that already has the ZCM 11.1 agent - the system update "Agent update 1 for ZENworks 11.1" must be used for such devices, and should be applied to all devices, including Primary Servers
- download ZENworks11SP1a.iso from https://download.novell.com
- remove "Update for ZENworks (11.1)" under "Available System Updates" from the System update page via ZCC. ("Available System Updates" under ZCC > Configuration> System Updates).
- mount the ISO image on a Primary server, or burn the image to physical media and mount on a Primary server
- At the command prompt, run the following command to import the update:
Windows: zman sui [mounted drive]\Common - e.g.,
zman sui D:\Common
Linux: zman sui [mounted drive]/Common - e.g.,
zman sui /media/ZENworks11SP1a.iso/Common - When the import has finished downloading (see ZCC > Configuration> System Updates) authorize the update
zman suaz "Update for ZENworks (11.1a)" - When the status for the update is "Ready" the authorization process is complete
- As usual, allow time for replication of the updated content to finish before deployment to other devices (this can be checked by looking at the "Content Replication Status" on the "Release Details" page for the update (ZCC > Configuration> System Updates> Update for ZENworks (11.1a))
- If "Agent update 1 for ZENworks 11.1" has been applied to the Primary server, it is not necessary to rebuild the deployment packages at this stage.
