Situation
Customer would like to restrict the usage of specific special characters so they can't be used in a password.
Resolution
In a Password Policy, there is the ability to specify specific passwords that can't be used. Passwords created can't equal these restricted passwords or contain them.
If the characters to be restricted are created as restricted passwords, created passwords will not be able to contain those characters.
Steps:
If I want to exclude & and # from being used in a password.
Using iManager
Choose the Passwords task
Under Passwords - Choose Password Policies
Click on the policy to be modified
Choose the Universal Password tab
Under Advanced Password Rules | Check the box for Exclude the following passwords
Choose the + next to Enter excluded password and type a & in the Add Item box; then click OK.
Repeat for the # character.
Click Apply
In the Policy Summary, the Rules section will have the following:
Excluded password #
