Why can't I access vnc

Environment

Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10

Situation

After enabling VNC during install, after reboot trying to access the server via VNC yields the following message:

failed to connect to server

Resolution

This is typically caused by the vnc server not starting, which is controlled by xinetd (which isn't enabled).  To enable xinetd:
  1. Launch YaST
  2. select Network Services
  3. select Network Services (xinetd)
  4. insure that the service is "enable"
