Situation
Since the May 2011 Scheduled Maintenance update, some customers are experiencing diffculties salvaging deleted files.
The salvage problems may be encountered for data that is residing on the customers 'remote' storage (in this case the data resided on remote 'shadow' volumes where it was deleted), or with data that lives somewhere in the system and is being accessed through DFS junctions.
Also there is one report where this is seen on a NSS volume that is local to the server.

Resolution
The problem has been identifed, a new NCP engine that addreses the problem has been built and is currently being verified.
Additional Information
When a salvage action was performed usign the Novell client, the following was encountered :
"A file or directory name must not contain the characters / \ : * ? "> ? | and must be at least one character long. Please reenter the name."
the directory we are trying to salvage files from however had a name of '2345' and did not contain any special characters, or files with extended characters for that matter.
After increasing the NCP log levels, and performing the same salvage action, some or all of the the following could be found in the ncpserv.log file :
<snip/>
