Environment

Novell SecureLogin
NSL7SP2
IE7
IE8

Situation

Internet Explorer Hangs or Crashes
SecureLogin hangs or crashes
Problem begins after installing NSL7SP2

Resolution

Several crashes issues have been addressed in NSL7.0.2 HF3 and NSL7.0.2 HF7.
Install the current hot fix for Novell SecureLogin available from download.novell.com. Click on "search patches" in the gray box on the right, select "SecureLogin" from the drop product down box, and click "search.

If the crash continues with the current hot fix a call with Novell Technical Support so we can address the cause of the crash in an upcoming version.

Alternatively, disable single sign on functionality for .Net applications, Flash applications or both.

To disable single sign on for .Net applications, set the following registry key and restart SecureLogin.
DWORD "DisableDotNetSSO" under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Protocom\SecureLogin
1 = disable sldotnetsso.
0 = default behavior (sldotnetsso enabled).

To disable single sign on for Flash applications, set the following registry key and restart SecureLogin.
DWORD "DisableFlashSSO" under HKLM\Software\Protocom\Securelogin.
1 = disable flash sso.
0 = default behavior (Enable Flash SSO).

Additional Information

NSL7SP2 added single sign on support for .Net and Flash applications.  In some environments these new features have led to hangs in IE, or crashes in SecureLogin.   NSL7SP2-HF3 addresses several causes of these crashes.

If the crash continues with HF3,  no .Net or Flash applications have been configured for single sign on, and users do not need this new functionality,  disabling either sldotnetsso or flashsso or both may be the best alternative.
