RMA install hangs when executed via putty ssh session

Environment

Novell Identity Manager Role Mapping Administrator 4.0.1

Situation

When installing RMA via a putty SSH session on SLES 11 SP 1, the install hangs. After agreeing to the license agreement the cursor moves to the top left of the terminal window, clearing all the text in the window, and flickers occasionally. Install never completes. The command used to start the install is "java -jar IDMRMAP.jar".

Resolution

The way used by the install to prevent the RMA Administrator password from being displayed is resulting in this quirky behavior when using putty for the SSH session. The install works fine in the local server, and also works fine using SSH from another Linux box or using SSH from cygwin on Windows.

The work-around is to use the silent installation mode when installing RMA via a putty SSH session. The steps to do so are available at the "Identity Manager Role Mapping Administrator 4.0.1 Installation and Configuration Guide" that can be accessed from the "Identity Manager 4.0.1" documentation link at https://www.novell.com/documentation .
