Error 8201 Trying to Restore Email Between 2 Windows Servers

Environment

Novell GroupWise 8 Support Pack 2
Microsoft Windows 2003 Support pack 2

Situation

After setting up a Restore Area on a remote Windows 2003 SP2 server, when trying to do Action | Restore on an item the 'Error 8201 - Access Denied' is displayed.

Steps to duplicate:
1. Create 2 Windows 2003 servers in the same eDirectory 8.8.6 tree. 2. Create a GroupWise system with mail in it on one to the servers. 3. Copy the Post Office structure to the other server. 4. Create shares between the production server to the restore area and from the restore area server tot he production server with 'Full Access' on both shares. 5. Configure a Restore Area in by going to: ConsoleOne Tools | GroupWise System Operations | Restore Area Management to point tot he restore area on the other server. 6. Deleted some of the mail from the production mailbox. 7. In the production mailbox, do File | Open Backup. 8. The deleted mail should visible. Select some and do Action | Restore.
The 8201 error will display.

Resolution

Workaround:
Have the restore area on same server as the production post office. This would not work if the production post office size is too large for the drive.
