Unchecking "Launch Tray Application" setting does not get honored during login

Situation

Unchecking "Launch Tray Application" setting in Novell Client System Settings does not get honored during login.
 
The ncl_tray icon still appears even after unchecking "Launch Tray Application" under System Settings.
