Environment

Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux Support Pack 2
Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux Support Pack 3
OES April Maintenance Patch
OES May Maintenance Patch

Situation

Trying to print a document in Adobe 8 or 9 to a network drive mapped via NCP fails to auto-open the document once it's written out the PDF file.   Any Office application (OpenOffice or MS Office) when printing a page in a document will create a PDF file using the PDF driver when Adobe is installed.   When you print to a network drive via NCP, it will create and write data to the PDF file and then immediately try to open the document in Adobe.   The file does get created and you are able to open the PDF document from the network drive after a few seconds.

Resolution

An FTF for novell-ncpenc RPM has been created based on April Maintenance release.
This can be obtained through the bug. Please contact Novell Support to obtain it.
This fix did not make it into the May Maintenance release.

Additional Information

The problem is not unique to Adobe but was used to duplicate the problem.  Other Windows applications which open, write data to, and then immediately try to reopen the file might see similar behavior.
Known to affect these applications.
