Environment

Novell Messenger All Versions

Situation

Users attempting to login to Novell Messenger get a AD0B error
Users attempting to login to Novell Messenger with a blank eDirectory password.
Error seen in Messaging Agent log: "Login failed [0xAD0B]:<user_name> - invalid credentials supplied to LDAP"

Resolution

Possible Solutions/Additional Troubleshooting Steps:
  • Change the eDirectory password.
  • Make sure that the correct LDAP server IP is being used with the /ldapipaddr switch in the startup.ma (Messaging Agent startup file).
  • Add, or rearrange the LDAP servers into the /ldapipaddr switch, this is by adding "" and a space in between each IP, i.e."151.155.241.135 151.155.241.132".
  • If using SSL, try using none SSL or connecting on port 389 first.
  • Create a brand new user and see if they can login.

Additional Information

Additional Switches that May Help:
/ldapport - manually configure LDAP port to communicate over.
/dirreplicaipaddr-<ip_address> - Specifies the IP address of an eDirectory replica.
/direuserauthbind - Indicates that you want users to authenticate to eDirectory by using a bind rather then a compare operation.
/diruserforcedirect - Indicates that you want users to use direct access to eDirectory even though you have configured the Messaging Agent to use LDAP access.  Requires eDirectory replica on local machine.
