Environment
Novell eDirectory 8.8.5 for All Platforms
Novell Messenger 2.1 or 2.2 for Linux
SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 11
Novell Messenger 2.1 or 2.2 for Linux
SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 11
Situation
Messenger fails to install on the Linux box
Messenger does not detect eDirectory on the local Linux box during the install.
Schema seems to extend correctly when extending the schema by itself during the install.
Looking at the nmschema.err file in /var/opt/novell/log/messenger shows various errors, one error may be AD27.
Attempting complete install of messenger on Linux, never finishes, it errors on trying to login with correct credentials, or invalid password, or permission errors.
Extending the Schema from Windows works fine.

Resolution
There are a couple of bugs in eDirectory 8.8.5 that prevents
Messenger from extending the schema and installing correctly when
ran from Linux. Upgrade to latest eDirectory or at least
8.8.6.
Workaround:
Extend the schema from a Windows machine, then proceed to install Messenger from the Linux box.
