Situation
SafeNet ProtectDrive uses a credential provider "wrapper" to force the user to do a pre-login authentication to the stored ProtectDrive database prior to allowing access to the local workstation. The SafeNet credential provider wrapper is written for the Microsoft credential provider. When using the Novell Client's credential provider, the users credentials don't get written to the ProtectDrive database, which prevents subsequent access to the workstation.
Resolution
SafeNet product management has elected not to develop a wrapper for the Novell Client credential provider (as of 12April2011). Because of this, it is necessary to remove the ProtectDrive product if the Novell credential provider is to be used on the workstation.
Workaround: Use the Microsoft credential provider (instead of the Novell credential provider) by setting "Login with Non-Novell Credential Provider" to "On". This setting is located on the Novell Client Properties "Advanced Login" tab.
