Error: Novell iFolder Core has stopped working

Novell iFolder 3.8
Novell iFolder Client 3.8.x for Windows
 

Situation

Error: Novell iFolder Core has stopped working on the windows iFolder client.
 
When this happens, the Simias process on the back end of the client has crashed, but the front end iFolder application is still running, but cannot connect to the server.
 
When getting this error, check and see if the simias service quit.  This can be done with the following steps:
1. The CTRL-ALT-DEL key sequence
2. Select 'Start Task Manager'
3. Make sure the 'Processes' tab has been selected
4. Verify that Simias.exe does NOT show up as a running process.
 
 

Resolution

The April updates to OES2 SP3 contain a number of fixes to iFolder, including the new iFolder 3.8.4.1 client. Fully update the server, then update the iFolder client with the new one from the server.
If, after the client update, the client fails to load with an XSP error, look at TID 7008511 for instructions on resolving this error.
