Environment

Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux Support Pack 2
Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux Support Pack 3
Novell iManager 2.7

Situation

Due to corruption not all options are available for the plugin, for example the "Move" task is missing from the "Files and Folders" roll or when attempting to perform an action using the task an error is returned "The selected task could not be performed. Either the task is not assigned or does not support multi-object operations."

Resolution

To reinstall the "File Manager" (fileman.npm) plugin first download the latest available version from the NetIQ Support Website then perform the following steps;

  1. In iManager select the "Configure" button from the top button options.
  2. Expand "Plug-in Installation".
  3. Click the "Installed Novell Plug-in Modules" option.
  4. Select the tick box next to the problem plugin, for example in this case the "File Manager Plugin".
  5. Click "Uninstall" at the top of the page.
  6. Confirm on the popup box to uninstall the selected module by clicking "OK" and then on "Close" on the success screen.
  7. Exit Novell iManager.
  8. Stop novell-tomcat by entering from a server console "rcnovell-tomcat5 stop".
  9. Check if the package NPM file "fileman.npm" is already in "/var/opt/novell/iManager/nps/packages" and delete the file if it exists.
  10. Start novell-tomcat again by entering from a server console "rcnovell-tomcat5 start".
  11.  Log back into iManager and under "Configure", "Plug-in Installation" expand "Available Novell Plug-in Modules".
  12. Select "Add" and browse to the downloaded NPM file, in this example "fileman.npm" and click on "Ok".
  13. The plugin should now be listed under "Available Novell Plug-in Modules", select the tick box next to the plugin to be installed from the list, in this case the "File Manage Plugin" and click on "Install".
  14. Once the install completes, click on "Close" and "Close" again then exit iManager.
  15. It is now required to again restart novell-tomcat by entering "rcnovell-tomcat5 restart".
  16. Log back into iManager and verify the plugin is listed on the "Roles and Tasks" view in the left hand pane (Files and Folders) and working properly.

Additional Information

Note that it may be possible to use the same steps for other plugins, however in some cases additional steps may be required.
