Situation
Purpose:
Things to take care of while enabling Device Security Policy with Mobility Pack Update 3
Symptoms:
"Require Both Letters and Numbers" gets automatically selected
Minimum 8 length passwords are forced on the devices
Policies with patterns does not work on the device with Device Security Policy on Mobility Pack
Resolution
Some devices are very sensitive and not accepting the Device Policy on the device will remove the ActiveSync account on the device. Therefore, care should be taken to enable these policies. One such device is HTC Incredible.
If the device already has a device password set that matches the Security Policy, the device should give a warning but should not ask to change the password on the device. However, if the already set device's password does not match the Policy, then the user will be forced to change the password on the device.
Require Both Letters and Numbers get automatically selected:
Minimum password length of 8 characters is selected on the device even thought it is not selected
