Environment

Novell eDirectory 8.8 for All Platforms
Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux Support Pack 3

Situation

  1. Upgraded to OES2/SP3.
  2. Ran dsbk.
  3. Backup was not created and ndsd.log file displayed this error -

Loader Failed:for dxevent, error dxevent: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory, errno 2

Resolution

A dsbk script was located in the /usr/bin/ directory prior to OES2SP3.  The correct location for OES2SP3 is in the /opt/novell/eDirectory/bin/dsbk directory.

Removed the /usr/bin/dsbk file if it still exists.  Backups with dsbk should work correctly.

Note: It's possible that an incorrect dsbk file might be present in a different directory than /usr/bin.  To determine if that's the case, run the following command.

which dsbk
