Situation

PA Redirection wrongly applies itself with miggui.
Printer Agent Redirection URL pointing to itself causes to go in loop and crashes spooler of the workstations those have those printers installed.

Resolution

Work around :-
Remove Printer Agent Redirection URL before Migration.
 
Steps to remove Printer Agent Redirection URL :-
  1. Access iManager of NetWare Server hosting Print Manager.
  2. Go to Manage Print Manager and choose your desired Print Manager.
  3. Click on Printer Agent Redirection tab.
  4. Go to each Printer Agent that has Printer Redirect URL populated select the URL and delete.
  5. Apply the changes and Exit.
If Printer Agents are already in problem state then perform the steps below to clear the Printer Agent Redirection URL :-
  1. Access iManager of Linux Server hosting Print Manager.
  2. Go to Manage Print Manager and choose your desired Print Manager.
  3. Click on Printer Agent Redirection tab.
  4. Go to each Printer Agent that has Printer Redirect URL populated select the URL and delete.
  5. Apply the changes and Exit.
  6. If more Printer Agents need to be migrated then ensure that on source servers Print Manager Printer Redirect URL  is empty and then proceed with migration.

Additional Information

Following the steps below will result in the symptoms documented above.

Duplicate Steps:

  1. Create 5 to 6 Printer Agents on NetWare Print Manager.
  2. Using iManager on NetWare Server go to Manage Print Manager | Printer Agent Redirection and ensure that Printer Redirect URL is empty for all Printer Agents.
  3. Use miggui on target Linux Print Manager Server.
  4. Migrate 3 Printer Agents from NetWare to linux Print manager. (Same context / Different Context for target Printer Agents optional)
  5. Using iManager Verify target print manager has received Printer Agents and Printer Agent Redirection is empty.
  6. Using iManager on NetWare set Printer Agent Redirection for the Printers we migrated in Step 3 and in the Printer Redirect URL select the linux printer agents.
  7. Run miggui again on the linux server.
  8. Choose Printer Agent that were not migrated earlier.
  9. Using iManager Verify target print manager has received Printer Agents we migrated in step 7 and verify that Printer Agent Redirection shows url pointing to the same Printer Agents who were migrated in Step 3.
