Environment

Novell Access Manager 3.1 Windows Novell Identity Server
Novell Access Manager 3.1 Windows based Administration COnsole
Novell Access Manager 3.1 Support Pack 2 applied

Situation

While doing a test installation of a 3.1.2 IR3a secondary Admin Console on Windows platform, eDirectory encountered an issue. Deciding that the quickest approach would be to reinstall, subsequent installations would continuously fail with the message

"A partial installation has been detected on your system. Please uninstall this product using the Add/Remove program utility before reinstalling edirectory".

The uninstall program appears to work fine -  there is no c:\Novell, c:\Program files\Novell or c:\Program Files (x86)\Novell directories. Manually removed all trace of "novell" from the registry including anything to do with nici. Despite all the manual operations with the files, the Control Panel "Novell eDirectory Services" icon stubbornly refuses to disappear.

Resolution

To uninstall all Access Manager files and registry entries:
  1. Run the uninstall program.

The program removes most of the files.

  2. When the program hangs or error message appears, exit the program.

  3. Delete the following directories:

    • C:\Novell

    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Novell

    • C:\Program Files\Novell\Nsure Audit
    • C:\Windows\system32\novell\eDir\OpenSLP
    • C:\Windows\SysWOW64\novell\nici
    • C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\novell
    • C:\Program Files\Common Files\novell
    • C:\Program Files\Common Files\NMAS
  4. Run regedit and remove the following entries:

    • \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NOVELL\AccessManager

    • \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NOVELL\NDS

    • \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NOVELL\nici_x64

  5. Restart the machine.

Additional Information

Will be addressed in Access Manager 3.1 Support Pack 3
