ZSM TED Port 8089 is held open by other java processes if "novell-zfs restart" is run in a Distribution "Pre/Post Actions" Script

Environment

Novell ZENworks 7 Server Management Support Pack 1 - ZSM7 SP1 Tiered Electronic Distribution (TED)

Situation

Port 8089 is being held open by other java processes if "novell-zfs restart " is run in a Distribution "Pre/Post Actions " Script.

CRON and CIFS processes take over port 8089 if ZFS TED is restarted via the Distribution "Pre/Post Actions " Script.

Affects some servers some times.

Resolution

Use the "Start Process " option in the "Pre/Post Actions " tab in the properties of the Distribution in ConsoleOne. This option uses a java runtime option to run the command as a separate process.

Additional Information

"Pre/Post Actions " Script commands are launched as a child process from the ZSM TED Distribution process (using native calls to fork the child process).
