Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux Support Pack 2

Situation

Attempting to start the Lotus Notes client in an environment where the databases reside on an NCP volume on an OES2 Linux server it is possible to see the error, "This database is currently in use by another person or process, and cannot be accessed at this time. In order to share a Notes database, it must be accessed via a Domino Server by all users of the database."

Resolution

Fixed in March 2011 maintenance update for OES 2 SP2 and SP3.

Additional Information

Workaround: Disable "cross protocol locks" by changing the CROSS_PROTOCOL_LOCKS setting in the /etc/opt/novell/ncpserv.conf from 1 to 0. Please see the documentation for considerations and additional information concerning this setting.
