Situation
Attempting to upgrade the Admin Console from 3.1.2 IR2 to 3.1.2 IR3. Install starts and then gets hung on installing Java - this is the component displayed in the Windows update screen. Cancelling the install and retrying the install again worked fine. However, concerns exist whether the subsequent install worked fine and whether the system is really upgraded properly.
Resolution
Redownload patch and run upgrade process again.
The install/upgrade log files confirmed that the Novell tomcat application was not updated correctly first time around. Looking at the checksum of the Windows Admin Console/Identity Server download, the value returned for the downloaded build did not match that displayed on the dl.netiq.com server where the file was retrieved from.
