Environment

Novell iPrint for Linux
Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux Support Pack 2

Situation

Printing from one iPrint OES server to another may be necessary on various situations such as forwarding jobs from a non-secure zone to a secure zone.

Resolution

Note: This feature in OES2SP2  is currently not working. We are working on getting it resolved as soon as possible.

Setup Steps:
  1. Open up iManager

  2. Create a printer agent, on the destination server
    iManager->iPrint->Create Printer
    Note: There is no need to associate a driver to the printer agent

  3. Enable LPR on the printer agent just created on the destination server.
    iManager->iPrint->Manage Print Manager->Printer Agents and then check enable LPR and apply.

  4. Create a printer agent on the source server
    iManager->iPrint->Create Printer.

    When creating the printer agent, it will ask for "The DNS name or IP Address". This should be the IP address of the destination print server.
    Also the "LPR Printer name" should be the same name as the printer agent created on the destination server.

  5. Final step is to install the printer located on the source server.

Print jobs will now print from the workstation to the source server and then be forwarded to the destination server which will then send the job to the printer.
