Environment

Novell GroupWise 8 Support Pack 2
Novell Client 2 SP1 for Windows (IR4)
NetWare 6.5
OES2 SP2 Linux

Situation

In Windows 7 32 or 64 bit, with the Novell Client 2 SP1 (IR4) installed, attempting to save an attachment to a mapped NCP volume may result in an error "Bad File Name".  A zero byte file is created during this process.  This occurs if you are attempting to save the attachment using the File | Save As from the menu bar within the e-mail message.

Resolution

The issue has been reported to engineering and is under investigation.  There are two known workarounds.

1)  Click OK on the "Bad File Name" message and repeat the save process.  When prompted to replace the file, click Yes.
2)  Right click on the attachment and choose Save As, browse to the desired save location and select Save.

Additional Information

This issue is scheduled to be fixed in the next update of the Novell Client 2 for Windows 7.  This document will be updated once the official update has been released.
