Situation

When a mail is sent from a GroupWise account with extended characters in a first and/or last names, the sender`s email address displayed on a phone was showing his extended characters. Reply could not be delivered due to this reason.

Resolution

The system was configured with a default Internet Addressing email address format First.Last and there were many users having extended characters in their names. To overcome this problem, an older approach was used - gateway aliases. However, the gateway alias string is not populated into eDir email address field that still showed an email address First.Last based upon account First.Last names from eDir. If you use override option in the Internet Addressing, preferred Email ID instead of the gateway aliases, this updates eDir Email address field with correct values. Mails sent from such account display on a phone correct email address and there will be no more problems with delivering replies on the mails due to extended characters.
Shall you have several gateway aliases in the system, use C1 tool - Gateway Alias Migration, that transfers the alias string into the account preferred Email ID field in the Internet Addressing.
